The main subject of the first photography contest 'Science on Camera' was the region of Silesia, the hospitable, magical land, which, against deeply-rooted stereotypes, is not only the land of coal and steel, coal mine towers and steelworks smoke stacks or post-industrial heaps and dumps. In fact it is a charming place full of beautiful landscapes and wonderful people who live here. The authors of the photographs showed us a different look at the extraordinary region: wonderful nature, unique architecture of the workers' estates, and people, inhabitants of the industrialized region which still evolving. The human mind accepts no boundaries, no physical limitations, architectural barriers or geographical borders. They do not exist neither on micro nor universal scale. On the contrary, for the human mind, which is the most unstoppable power moving our world forward, all obstacles and limits are merely challenges. If you cannot see something, it does not mean it does not exist at all, you just have to magnify it. If you cannot hear or smell it, just amplify it, increase the concentration. It cannot be done?
