Description popularizing the research project

Tangled parts of bodies, an irrational combination of technical details - this is the essence of chaos and madness. Dadaism and Surrealism pose a real challenge for an audience. These, who visit art galleries more often, are able to see the message hidden in the chaos, find there beauty or even harmony. Members of the inner circle, these who were initiated, become a Max Ernst themselves for three days. They use tools the Grand Master even never dreamed of and paint a collage after collage on their electronic canvas. A computer, a scanner, a multimedia projector and a digital camera are ideal tools to cut and slice reality and arrange the pieces endlessly, taking inspiration from the paintings by the artists who expressed their own visions over a hundred years ago. The photomontages created by young artists participating in the workshop inspired by Dadaism and Surrealism prove one fact that even things which there already were, will never be the same. A collage and a photomontage have overcome their limitations given the ability to move thanks to the magic of animation techniques.
When the spell is gone and the spirits of Klee and Duchamp disappear only the prints created by the young artists remain on the walls of Faculty of Art in Cieszyn. Maybe they will never come back to surrealistic associations or a new talent, a genius will emerge and it will force art historians to accept a new trend called: neodada ...

Abstract

The project aimed at analyzing the formal contents in the works of dadaists and surrealists as well as interpreting their achievements with help of modern graphic means -- digital imaging systems (computers, digital cameras, scanners, printers, multimedia projectors, etc.)
The purpose was the development of artistic sensitivity, gaining the ability of conscious referring to artistic experiences of the past periods, expanding the capabilities of creating original works of modern graphic art based on the works of great masters.
Every participant was to create their surrealistic/dadaistic works in three days, some of them volunteered to make animations. On the last day a joint work was created, a sum of the works of individual students. Currently it is displayed on the wall in the Art Institute of Cieszyn. As a result there were created very interesting and surprising works. The participants showed great diligence and more than abundant productivity. What strikes the most is the number of differences between particular projects, despite the fact that the participants had been inspired by the same works of art and the same techniques, and they seemed to have limited chances of showing what they were capable of.
The talented students are able to express themselves through art, unfold their own specific style, and at the same time retain the characteristic features of the given period.
